Boise Regional REALTORS® takes pride in providing information to brokers. We compiled a few resources for you, including simple forms for agent changes and a quick list of our frequently asked questions for brokers. Whether you’re a new brokerage or need a refresher, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions, below.

What needs to happen before my agent applies for BRR membership?

The agent’s IREC licensing process must be complete and accurate in the IREC database prior to applying with BRR. This includes:

  • Accurate name (see Question 2 regarding nicknames);
  • “Active” status: As the broker, you must mark the agent as “Active” in IREC’s system prior to us accepting their application;
  • Correct office listed.

Please remember that the broker must be a member of the local association the agent is trying to join.

If the agent has not completed their fingerprinting, approval, and activation process with IREC, BRR will not be able to accept or process their application.

Where can I find the most up-to-date membership application?

Our application is frequently updated on our website. When providing an application to a new agent, we invite you to download a new application here to ensure your agent has the current pricing, application, and benefit information.

What do I do if my agent wants to market themselves with a nickname?

All nicknames or alterations to legal names need to be processed through IREC. BRR cannot enter an agent by any name that is not listed on their license record. Nicknames or shortened names must be in parenthesis if the agent would like that name used by BRR or listed on any signage/marketing.

How do agents pay for their membership?

If an agent is paying for their membership, directly, they can pay over the phone or through their BRR portal. The broker can also pay for membership via phone or the applying member’s portal.

If an agent decides to transfer offices, what do I do?

Office transfers for the BRR membership are handled by our membership team. You or the agent can reach out to membership@boirealtors.com or call 208-376-0363.

Please note: IMLS and other entities may require you to fill out their own office transfer documentation. Contacting each entity is the best practice to ensure everyone has been updated appropriately.

What benefits do my agents get from being a BRR member?

As a member of BRR, IR, and NAR, agents set themselves above the rest by proving their commitment to the professionalism and ethics involved with being a REALTOR®.

Members of BRR also receive market updates; access to archived market data; newsletters regarding advocacy, education, and events; discounts on classes and products; and much more.

What should my agents know about their membership with IMLS and how it corresponds with BRR?

  • BRR is here to help agents fulfill their licensing requirements and act as a center for information regarding ethics, courses/events, and advocacy opportunities.
  • BRR does not have control over lockboxes, Supra, or Paragon. Those programs are monitored and controlled by IMLS.
  • Additionally, forms and contracts are managed by Idaho REALTORS® (IR) and should be directed accordingly.

Where is the IMLS located?

IMLS was historically located next to BRR, in the same building. They have since moved around the block to 10200 Emerald Street. They are still close by but have their own building where agents can purchase lockboxes, take IMLS-hosted classes, and discuss their Supra access.

Where can agents access their course requirement records for licensing?

  • While BRR offers classes for members at our location, we do not maintain educational records for all courses a member takes (if they attend a course outside of BRR). The entity responsible for tracking educational fulfillment is the Idaho Real Estate Commission (IREC).
  • Agents can log into their IREC portals to check their fulfillment status or call IREC at 208-334-3285.
  • We recommend verifying previously attended classes with IREC, directly, prior to registering for a BRR course.

How does a primary versus secondary membership work for my agents?

The first thing to note with memberships, as stated in Question 1, must be in the same local association as the broker. The broker may have as many secondary memberships as they desire but if the agent wants to join any membership as a primary, it must be one of those listed as a primary or secondary for the broker.

Once an agent joins an association as a primary that the broker is a member of, they have the option to join secondary associations. Secondary memberships do not need to share memberships with the broker.

The purpose of secondary memberships is to provide members with local data, MLS access, course opportunities, and other local benefits. Primary memberships collect state/national dues and monitor the completion of Code of Ethics training.
