Ballot Measures
Meridian Public Safety Levy
-
-
- This permanent levy requires 60% voter approval and would generate $5,018,125.71 annually starting October 1, 2026. The Levy would cost the average single-family homeowner about $20.11 per $100,000 of assessed value each year.
- Levy funds would be used to retain firefighters currently supported by an expiring federal SAFER grant; boost police pay to address retention challenges and create an in-house prosecution department (saving about $800,000 now paid to Boise for contracted services).
-
Boise Clean Water and Open Space Levy
-
-
- This is a temporary two-year levy that requires a simple majority (50% + 1 vote) to pass. The estimated annual cost is $9.89 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, which equals about $40 per year for the average Boise homeowner (including the homeowner’s exemption). If approved, the levy will be collected from 2026–2027 and is projected to generate $11 million over two years ($5.5 million a year). The levy has historically enjoyed strong voter support and is expected to pass again.
- Levy funds would be used to acquire and preserve open space, protect water quality, expand trails and pathways, reduce wildfire risk, and improve parks. All spending will be subject to independent audits and public accountability.

Our association’s endorsement process differs slightly between candidates and ballot measures. For candidate endorsements, local candidates are invited to complete a questionnaire focused on issues such as housing, growth, and private property rights. The Public Policy Committee then conducts interviews to better understand each candidate’s views and experience before making endorsement recommendations to the Board of Directors. For ballot measures, the committee meets with representatives from the respective campaign organizations to learn about the proposal’s goals, impacts, and community benefits. These presentations help the committee determine whether to recommend support to the Board based on how the measure aligns with REALTOR® priorities and the interests of local homeowners.
